About the artwork
In this 2009 piece, Oleksandr Babak approaches a floral still life through gestural, layered brushwork and thick impasto. Pale pink, white, and lilac petals emerge with brisk strokes and flecks of primary color, set against a saturated plum-red ground on the left and a vivid green accent along the right edge. Babak is a painter associated with the New Wave movement whose work frequently explores memory and archaic forms through expressive, material-driven compositions. Measuring 50 × 60 cm, the work introduces concentrated color and painterly texture, making it well-suited for a study, dining room, or contemporary living area.Details
