About

"I am interested in color as a self-sufficient substance. Each shade has its own strength and energy, and well-composed colors can evoke deep emotions"

Angelina Hafynets (b. 1992, Transcarpathia) is a Ukrainian artist who merges the still-life tradition with contemporary explorations of colour, form and texture. A graduate of the Transcarpathian Academy of Arts and the Adalbert Erdeli College, her painting is noted for decorative clarity, a vivid palette and emotional intensity; Silver Easel 2017 and “Picturesque Ukraine” 2018 laureate.

Hafinets’ Still Life: A Dialogue with Abstraction

Angelina Hafynets was born in 1992 in Transcarpathia. She studied at the A. Erdeli College of Arts (2011), Transcarpathian Art Institute (2013), and Transcarpathian Academy of Arts (2018). In her work, color is central—material, strong, and dense. “A professional sense of color, combined with simplified yet powerful structural solutions, close to early constructivism, creates the key impression—an experience of space,” notes Yuriy Komelkov, Director of the Museum of the Avant-Garde. According to art historian Volodymyr Petrashyk, Hafynets was the first in the modern Transcarpathian school to approach still life through a new color-plane system, where color itself shapes composition and builds depth, establishing her as a representative of the school in a contemporary dimension.
