About the artwork
Centred on a neutral tan ground, the composition unfolds in concentric, irregular rings of charred contours resembling a cross-section or topographic map. Burnt edges in deep sepia and blackened tones create layered relief across the surface, accented by subtle grey and toasted ochre passages. Roman Mykhailov's practice explores the deformation of images, conceptual graphics, and social symbolism, transforming the picture plane through direct material intervention. Measuring 135 by 115 cm, the work introduces a raw, textural focus to modern, brutalist, or minimalist spaces, pairing naturally with concrete, stone, and unvarnished timber.Details
