About the artwork
Rendered in a classic comic-strip aesthetic, this 2016 painting depicts a tightly framed embrace between a blonde woman and a dark-haired figure. Bold black contour lines structure the composition, filled with flat, saturated fields of bright yellow, emerald green, and vivid red lips. Layered over the scene are expressive, dripping graffiti tags in white, neon pink, and cyan, juxtaposing mid-century romance imagery with raw urban mark-making. Sergey Yakimenko employs this clash of styles to examine the contrast between physical closeness and emotional distance, using graphic conventions to question modern intimacy. Measuring 90 by 80 cm, the canvas provides a striking focal accent for contemporary interiors, industrial lofts, or minimalist spaces that benefit from high-contrast graphic art and energetic color.Details
