Sergey Yakimenko's painting “Nothink” reveals the contrast between physical intimacy and inner emptiness. The phrase “I feel nothing” transforms the kissing scene into a metaphor for emotional burnout.

About

"For me, art is an opportunity to speak about complex things in a simple language. I want my works to be a mirror of everyday life, in which the viewer can find a piece of their own sincerity and peace amidst the endless information noise."

In work “Nothink,” Sergey Yakimenko continues a series of pop art interpretations where classic comic book style meets street art aesthetics. The characters are frozen in the moment of a kiss that radiates alienation rather than passion. The text, written in the style of old comics, adds psychological depth—language becomes a vehicle for paradox: physical intimacy is contrasted with emotional emptiness. Bright colors, clear contours, and dynamic graffiti create a visual space of contemporary “emotional noise.
Serhiy Yakymenko is a prominent representative of the new generation of Ukrainian artists, whose journey began in street culture and evolved into a profound gallery practice. Having studied in Kharkiv, he successfully legitimized street art aesthetics within the context of fine art. His style is a dynamic synthesis of pop art, neo-expressionism, and "intellectual naivety." Yakymenko's works are distinguished by the active use of text, transforming each canvas into an ironic manifesto or a personal diary page. The artist employs simplified, almost childlike imagery to mask complex reflections on loneliness in the digital age, consumerism, and the search for identity. Beyond easel painting, Yakymenko is the creator of iconic murals that define the modern face of Ukrainian cities. Nominations for the PinchukArtCentre and M17 Sculpture Prizes solidify his status as an essential researcher of visual language whose art remains sincere and deeply conceptual.
