About the artwork
The composition presents a rural sunset across a textured grid of jigsaw puzzle pieces. Warm amber and orange light from the low sun contrasts with deep blue evening clouds and the dark tones of open fields. In the lower right section, the full-color photographic landscape gives way to a stark, black-and-white cutout containing drawn anti-tank hedgehogs arrayed diagonally across the ground. Created in 2016, this work reflects Yevgenia Yermolaeva’s conceptual practice rooted in social research and media art. The visual rupture between idyllic nature and militarized barriers invites reflection on territory and contested spaces. Framed in black and measuring 89 × 64 cm, the piece carries a strong graphic presence suitable for contemporary interiors, study rooms, or collections focused on conceptual and sociopolitical art.Details
