About

"For me, painting is first and foremost about the sun. I strive not just to convey the form of an object, but to catch that elusive moment when light touches the surface and changes everything around it. If my canvas makes the viewer squint from the imaginary brightness of the day, then I have succeeded in conveying life."

A prominent representative of the modern Ukrainian school, whose painting combines academic mastery with the freedom of French Impressionism. His canvases are a hymn to light, color, and the eternal beauty of nature. The master virtuously conveys atmospheric vibrations and the play of sunlight, turning landscapes of Ukraine and France into emotional symphonies recognized globally.
Viktor Efimenko is one of the most prominent representatives of modern Ukrainian Impressionism, whose name is closely associated with "luminous" painting. His artistic journey is a unique synthesis of a solid academic foundation and European creative freedom. A significant period working in France (1993–1997) was pivotal: it was there that his palette lightened, and his brushwork acquired the lightness and dynamism characteristic of the French school. Efimenko virtuously transforms the landscapes of Normandy, Brittany, or Southern Ukraine into emotional color symphonies. Light is the artist's primary tool—it saturates the canvases, creating a sense of atmospheric vibration. His still lifes impress with rich coloration and texture, where every detail seems captured by a sunbeam. The master's recognition at Christie’s and Sotheby’s auctions confirms that his art is globally valuable while remaining deeply sincere and humane.
